Apr 8th, 2009 | By leimrod | Category: Tech and the Net

You might have noticed the little picture on the right hand side of my blog now (circa 04/09). It’s another one of these internet fads that I’ve hopped on the bandwagon for while it lasts. Unlike some other online community games, this one lets you jump right in to it. No sign up or email verification required. If you click on this link below, you’ll be taken to a page where you can challenge my Brute to a fight.

Tilt-Shifted Video

Mar 30th, 2009 | By leimrod | Category: Tech and the Net

Very cool video project using the tilt-shifted and miniature faking technique that seems to be popping up all over the place recently. I’ve seen it used in photography over the last few months on stumbleupon pages, and most recently its been used in the titles for the show “Dollhouse”. I find this video, embedded after the jump, to be an excellent use of it. I mean if you didn’t know better you’d think it was actually miniature models just being animated.

Reinterpretion of Little Red Riding Hood

Mar 28th, 2009 | By leimrod | Category: Tech and the Net

Pretty cool reinterpretation of the “Little Red Riding Hood” childrens story. There is something very clinical about it that makes it very interesting. I’d imagine this is how robots will tell each other these stories in the future, you know, after they’ve enslaved all of mankind *shakes fist at Japans robotics devision* Anyway, enjoy!

Bloggers Cramp

Mar 16th, 2009 | By leimrod | Category: Tech and the Net, Thought

I recently completely updated my blog to the magazine-style theme you see now (or at least should if you are viewing this in March, 09). Previously I had a Super Mario Theme, which, even though I loved it, I felt was pigeon holing me in regards to what I could write about, namely as it was a gamer theme I should really be writing about games and gaming technology. Sometimes I don’t want to talk about games, I just want to play them and be done with it.

Infinite Gmail addresses

Jan 30th, 2009 | By leimrod | Category: Tech and the Net

I came across this neat little trick that allows you to utilize an infinite number of Gmail addresses. Why would you want to do this you may ask? Well, you pretty much have to use your email address to sign up to anything online, and sometimes you might start getting ads and spam for no reason, tracking down who sent it or how your email address got out can be a pain, so you end up just having to bear it.

There is also the matter of labels and filters in Gmail. Sometimes you want to know where the emails are specifically coming from but you can’t be guaranteed that the senders email will never change, as with a few forums I’ve found, their newsletter email can change from time to time making your filters, which look for the senders address, redundant.
